On Tuesday, July 24, 2018, Act One made its 2018-2019 school year field trip calendar available to educators and school officials whose students attend Title 1 schools. The Act One schedules for Metro Phoenix and Tucson currently include 96 different field trip shows or museum tours; 61 in Metro Phoenix and 35 in Tucson. Teachers can begin requesting field trips beginning Monday, Aug. 6 at 8 a.m.
In total, Act One has capacity to bring more than 46,000 students on educational arts field trips, according to Geri Wright, president and CEO of Act One. She notes that Act One is partnering with 49 different arts organizations to offer field trips this year.
“We’re able to bring more students on field trips this year thanks to our terrific arts partners and generous donors who believe that field trip experiences are an essential part of all students’ educations,” Wright says.
Act One pays for the admission tickets to the shows or museums, reimburses schools for the busing and provides study guides and other materials to help teachers prepare for their field trip. Schools are responsible for $1 per field trip participant.
Wright points out that demand for Act One field trips has grown tremendously in the last year, and Act One will confirm field trips for schools based on their percentage of students on free and reduced price lunch, giving priority to schools with the highest percentages.
