In-Person Field Trip

Witness the creative spirit of people from around the world through music. MIM’s galleries showcase instruments from every country, and students can see and hear musical traditions through video recordings built into every display. Choose from two tour options, each of which align with Arizona’s early learning and K–12 academic standards.

Musical Menagerie: Asia: Discover musical instruments and practices in the Asia Gallery that symbolize animals, sound like animals, and communicate with animals. See how Japanese dragons, Indian peacocks, Mongolian horses, and other creatures play important roles in cultural histories. Students get creative and move as they participate in a musical story or drumming activity.

¡Fiestas! Latin America: Explore musical instruments and objects that bring Latin American celebrations to life. Students will see, hear, and learn about music making from various festivals and cultural traditions, such as Trinidadian steel pans and Mexican mariachis. Students get creative and move as they participate in a musical story or drumming activity.
