Theatre Kids Virtual Field Trips

Beyond the Walls

Virtual Theatre Kids: Beyond the Walls | September 7 – December 6, 2021

This Theatre Kids online performance is recommended for students, third through seventh Grade

Beyond the Walls is a virtual performance of stage play Layer the Walls, exploring stories of a tenement apartment in New York City that was once home to hundreds of new immigrants in three episodes. Using Shadow and Bunraku puppetry, along with masks, the stories of Irish, Italian, and Jewish families are brought together like never seen before.

Each episode includes:

  • An artist introduction that provides context for the excerpt and poses initial questions.
  • An excerpt from the Layer the Walls stage performance.
  • Post excerpt conversation/Q&A. The artists will discuss some of the questions often asked by audience members, allowing a deeper dive into the content.

Access to the performance is $50 per classroom (11 to 50 students) and $10 per homeschool group (1 to 10 students). Fees will be waived for Title I schools and qualifying nonprofit organizations.

1-2-3 Andrés

Virtual Theatre Kids: 1-2-3 Andrés | January 17 – January 30, 2022

Part of the Around the Americas Series, this Theatre Kids online performance is recommended for students, Pre-K through Third Grade

Andrés and Christina are the Latin GRAMMY-winning music duo 123 Andrés. Their catchy songs and lively concerts get the whole family dancing and learning, in Spanish and English. Fast-paced and silly on the surface, these four 15-minute episodes are a great way to get kids interested in rhythms and instruments from around Latin America.

In each episode, travel with Andrés and Christina to meet a musician in a different country of Latin America – Argentina, Mexico, Guatemala, and Puerto Rico. Each musician teaches them about the style of music they play, and includes three interactive challenges that students can do by themselves, with their class or with family members, all using household objects. Practice a rhythm, learn a dance step, or create an instrument.

Access to the performance is $50 per classroom (11 to 50 students) and $10 per homeschool group (1 to 10 students). Fees will be waived for Title I schools and qualifying nonprofit organizations.
