Presented by Phoenix Chamber Music Society
Since making its Carnegie Hall debut in 2006, the Harlem Quartet has performed at the White House, with Itzhak Perlman and with the New York Philharmonic. The group has been hailed for “bringing a new attitude to classical music, one that is fresh, bracing and intelligent.” The quartet’s mission is to advance diversity in classical music, engaging young and new audiences through the discovery and presentation of varied repertoire that includes works by minority composers. These four musicians play traditional classical music, salsa and jazz. Students will learn about the instruments played by the quartet along with the history of the ensemble.
