2 Maricopa Community Colleges Join Culture Pass
Students and faculty at two Maricopa Community College campuses can now check out the arts for free with a Culture Pass at the college libraries. The libraries at GateWay Community College and Paradise Valley Community College recently began offering Culture Passes, which can be checked out in exchange for two free admissions to arts and cultural destinations like the Phoenix Art Museum, Heard Museum, Desert Botanical Garden and Superstition Mountain Museum. In total, 12 museums and attractions in Metro Phoenix offer free passes to library card holders who check out a Culture Pass.
Additionally, Culture Passes for more than 70 theater and music performances were made available to Metro Phoenix library systems for check out in exchange for two show tickets during the 2018-19 arts season. According to Juliet Martin, vice president of strategies and programs for Act One, the number of performances has grown year over year and is expected to top Metro Phoenix’s 72 shows in the 2019-20 arts season, which will kick off in September. A total of 10,100 seats were available in 2018-19.
South Mountain Community Library, located at South Mountain Community College, also offers the Culture Pass. The library is a partnership between Phoenix Public Library and South Mountain Community College.
Maricopa Community Colleges joins Arizona State University libraries in offering the Culture Pass to students and faculty. Culture Passes for Tucson-area arts and cultural destinations can also be checked out at Pima Community College’s Desert Vista Campus.
